DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: The weather doesn’t look so good for a ride (and all the WI races have been cancelled this weekend)\, but we can still talk racing! Come for a coffee and donuts\, and stay for the quality conversation. \nSpring is here and in the bicycling world that means racing will be here soon! La Crosse is home to a 3 day race series called the La Crosse Omnium (www.lacrosseomnium.com). If you’ve thought about racing\, but are unsure about it\, come to Smith’s Bike Shop for a session led by experienced bike racers and the Omnium Race Director to learn more. We will cover many topics such as: learn about what fitness level is appropriate\, how racing categories work\, the different types of racing (what is a crit? Is is scary? How fast do I have to go?)\, and more. We’ll make sure we leave time for questions as well. \nCome for free coffee and treats\, plus\, for those who are inclined\, a ride out to the La Crosse Omnium road course to get some miles in and preview the course. Time is TBD. The informational session will start one hour before the ride\, as the ride will depend on the weather. Bring out the big guns of your winter clothing arsenal. \nTRAIL PASS \nThe Levis Mound trail pass will be included in your entry fee on race day. Riders should buy a trail pass if riding Friday and Sunday. Camping permit is required for Yeti-Fest campers. Help support the trail! \nPLEASE REMEMBER \nOther Levis Mound Trails will be open to skiing\, riding and snowshoeing during the race. Be courteous to all other trail users and be safe at all times. SUMMARY:Winona Snow Bomb
DESCRIPTION:About The Snow Bomb:\nThe 5th annual Snow Bomb is a fat bike race/ride set in the Mississippi River valley in Winona\, Minnesota. This year’s Snow Bomb is part of the City of Winona’s Winter Carnival and immediately following the race/ride\, a snowshoe race will use the same course. Think of it as a 5K\, on fat tires\, in the snow\, and up and down hills. Snow Bomb is brought to you by the Winona Area Mountain Bikers (501c3) and partners\, Winona Parks & Recreation\, Recreation Alliance of Winona (501c3)\, and Adventure Cycle & Ski. \nDetails and schedule\nSchedule:\nCheck in between 10:00 and 10:30 AM on Saturday\, February 10. Please have your ID handy. All who pre-register before January 15 will receive a free gift. Expert race with LeMans start will begin at 11:00 AM\, and beginner race with LeMans start will begin at 11:05 AM. Party following the race\, and awards and raffle to follow after the snowshoe race is completed. \nCourse:\nLeMans start will begin at Holzinger Lodge and follows the “low rollers.” The “Low Roller” course is ridden counter-clockwise\, goes west to “stone circle”\, follow the the loop up to the left\, continue the loop past the “horseshoe\,” and past the “cistern trail\,” and turns around at the end of the “quarry trail.” Approximately 3 miles per lap. Experts will ride 4 laps (approx 15-25min each lap)\, Beginners 2 laps (approx 25-40min each lap). Awards and and party will be inside and around Holzinger Lodge\, and post race\, there will be a snowshoe race following the same course. \nParking:\nPlease park on the south side of West Lake BLVD as close to Holzinger Lodge as possible. \nWhat to bring:\nBring your fat bike\, race registration\, appropriate apparel\, lungs\, and legs. \nIn the slight chance of event cancellation\, there will be no returns. DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again\, we’re all looking forward to SNOW! We’re working on another rendition of the Cold Cafish Cup fat bike race over at the Carver Lake Park Off-Road Cycling Trail. \nIf you’ve done the race before\, you know what to expect: some of the best fat bike racing that the Twin Cities has to offer\, and a killer party! The biggest highlight is that ALL of the proceeds go back to the trails!!! \nWe’re keeping the format as following years\, BUT we’re going to try a Marathon Catagory! (Details are tentative):\nMARATHON: As many laps as possible in 4 hours!\nELITE: 2-4 laps\nSPORT: 2-3 laps \nWe’ll have fire pits\, music bumping\, and plenty of beverages (both hot and cold) to keep you moving throughout the day.\nWe’ll have free coffee on site courtesy of Northern Coffeeworks\, a food truck\, and other TBD friends on site to add to the party! \nWe’ll update this event as the snow flies\, but make sure to get signed up early and tell your friends!
